Binocular Vision Evaluation
A binocular vision evaluation is a visual examination that assesses how the eyes are working together. Individuals who benefit from a binocular vision evaluation may be experiencing double vision, eye strain, visual fatigue, and difficulties in school. This type of evaluation examines visual acuity, eye teaming, eye focusing, and eye movement.
A binocular vision evaluation differs from a routine eye exam in that a routine eye exam looks at visual acuities and the general health of the eyes whereas a binocular vision evaluation looks at how the eyes are working together. This is the reason why many children with visual issues may pass school vision exam. School vision exams only measure acuity and not the ability of the eyes to work together or the brain’s capacity to process what the eyes see.
